We want our name servers on a resilient system - what would you recommend?
There are 4 different sets of DNS servers we use:
- Our own servers, in Sheffield, these are set up so clients can update their own zone files via SSH/git if they wish.
- Gandi servers, they have a decent web interface that does versioning and allows plain text zone files to be edited. Your domain name needs to be with Gandi to use their DNS servers.
- 1984.is servers based in Iceland, these have a web interface and are free for all to use.
- Domains.coop DNS servers.
All the above options have their pros and cons, personally we like editing zone files in vim and committing them via git.
